a)You can restore your certificate in case you loose it from your PC due to any reason
b)You can install and use the same certificate on another PC
Following are the steps to export (backup) your user certificate from the current PC.
1.. Open Internet Explorer on the machine where you downloaded and installed your certificate.
2.. Click on Tools.
3.. Select Internet options.
4.. Choose Content from the top menu
5.. Click on Certificates
6.. Select your certificate from "Personal" tab and then Click on export
7.. The export wizard will start.
8.. Make sure that you Export Private key of the certificate
(Note: The certificate in not complete without the private key. You can not later on restore the certificate if it’s without private key)
9.. If you like, you can protect your private key with a password(optional)
10.. Include all certification path files and then save the file
11.. Name your certificate and store it somewhere on your PC or on external storage media
11.. Complete the Export Wizard by clicking on Finish button
12.. Click on OK button

We have uploaded our Digital Certificate on my computer but suddenly my computer was corrupted and i didn't make any back up or save in another computer. Is there any procedures on how to retrieve our Digital Certificate. Still i have a reference no of our digital certificate. Please reply.

Dear Castillo,
You can only retrieve your certificate only if you have taken a backup of it (with the private key of course). There is no other way that you can get back your certificate even if you a reference no.
I was trying to take a back up but I am blocked at the window to select, " Yes, Export the Private Key".

It seems that while installing/importing your certificate you had not selected the option "make private key exportable". That's the reason that you are now unable to export the private key. Solution? If you have the certifcate in original format you can re-install/re-import it with "make private key exportable" option selected. Once this is done, you can then take a backup of the certificate with the private key. Very soon we are posting on the stepwise process of how to import/install the certificate and will include this point as well.
I have uploaded my Digital Certificatein the 'Other People' tab (not the 'Personal' tab) in the 'Content' tab of the Internet Options.
1. Will this create any problems for linking my Digital Certificate to Mirsal II?
2. If yes, what is the way out?
3. How do I backup my Digital Certificate?

Dear Annu,
By default, your certificate is stored in the personal folder unless you specifically select a different folder. However, you can take a backup for it from any folder as long as it contains the private key component. Otherwise, re-install the certificate and make the private key exportable(as explained in "How to install my certificate?" post), then try to export it.
Thanks for your prompt reply. I am thinking of re-installing the digital certificate (this time hopefully it should get stored in the 'Personal' tab. Kindly however clarify the following:
1. By re-installing you mean I upload the digital certificate, right?
2. If yes, do I first need to delete the digital certificate already uploaded in the 'Other People' tab?
3. Dubai Trade has sent me by mail the digital certificate. I take it I can upload the certificate from there(?)
4. Once the uploading is done, I take it I can send the request to Dubai Customs for linking the Digital Certificate to Mirsal II(?)

To re-intall the certificate you can use to the download linksent to you by Etisalat and put the certificates refernce no and it will install on your machine again. This will work only if you have enrolled from you own machine and re-instlling it on the same machine.
If have received your certificate from etisalat on your flesh memoroy or by email, right click on the certificale,select install and complete the process. In both ways you don't need to delete the existing certificate.
We are not aware what certificate have you received from Dubai customs. Normally they do not have access to your private key.
After you have completed re-istallation you can proceed with the process of backing up your certificate and uploading it to the Dubai Trade website. (pls refer to the relevant section on the site). Please feel free to contact Etisalat support on 8002900 and Dubai Trade support on 800 4464.

I have my digital certificate on an email sent to me by my colleague (who had originally installed my Digital Certificate in the 'Other People' folder and who is no longer working with us). I have tried to re-install the Digital Certificate to the 'Personal' folder but to no avail. Even my IT staff has tried but no success. Can you help me out on this?
